Cookhouse is Sophie Enloe, Maggie Lind, and Patrick Lind, a Portland, Oregon string band devoted to the old time fiddle and banjo tradition. The trio grew out of Portland’s vibrant old time music scene, where dance tunes, late-night jam sessions, and a strong musical community have shaped generations of musicians. The three met in 2002 and have been playing knee-to-knee ever since, building a boundless shared repertoire drawn from old recordings, mentors, and years of playing together.

Our “Lately Tuned” officially releases on April 10!

Lately Tuned

PRE-ORDER NOW from Old-Time Tiki Parlor recordings on CD and digital download at BandCamp.

Lately Tuned is the debut album from Portland, Oregon, trio Cookhouse, featuring Sophie Enloe, Maggie Lind, and Patrick Lind. They have been playing fiddle tunes together in kitchens, at jam sessions, at dances, and in classrooms for over twenty years. Lately Tuned captures that long friendship in sound, offering a collection of old time tunes, songs, and original compositions.

The album’s title comes from a line in the old ballad “A-Roving on a Winter’s Night”: “She’s like a music instrument that’s just been lately tuned,” which feels fitting for a record this warm and well-worn.

We offer deep respect to the elders and tradition-bearers, recorded and unrecorded, whose music has shaped this lineage and continues to guide us.
